Why We Exist
In Uganda, thousands of children are diagnosed with cancer and other life-threatening conditions every year with little or no access to care. Families walk for miles to reach a clinic, only to be turned away because they cannot afford treatment. Many communities lack even basic access to clean drinking water.
Rehema Health Foundation changes that story. We connect critically ill children with the surgeries, chemotherapy, medications, and ongoing care they need to survive. But before a child can undergo surgery or chemotherapy, they must be strong enough to endure it. Many of the children we serve arrive severely malnourished, so our nutrition program is often the first and most critical step — rebuilding their bodies so they can withstand the treatment that will save their lives.
Cancer is a journey, not a single event — and we walk that journey with each child and their family from diagnosis through treatment and recovery. Between treatments, we bring children home — even if home is a mud hut — because being surrounded by family and everything they know gives them the strength to keep fighting. Our transportation program makes this possible, and it matters: lack of transportation remains the leading cause of treatment abandonment for childhood cancer in Uganda.
We also bring clean water to entire villages by drilling wells, because a child can’t heal if the water they drink is making them sick.
Meet Mary — A Fighter Who Needs Your Help
Mary was diagnosed with cancer as a young child in Uganda. Without access to treatment, her family had nowhere to turn. Rehema Health Foundation stepped in — funding her surgery, her chemotherapy, and her ongoing care. Between treatments, we bring Mary home to her family, because the love and familiarity of home gives her strength for the road ahead. Cancer is a journey, and we are with Mary every step of the way. Your donation makes stories like hers possible.

Who We Are
Rehema Health Foundation is a U.S.-registered nonprofit and a recognized NGO in Uganda, with a dedicated team of six on the ground. Our name, “Rehema,” means “mercy” in Swahili — and mercy is at the heart of everything we do.
Our NGO status in Uganda allows us to operate directly within the communities we serve — coordinating care, navigating the healthcare system, and advocating for children who would otherwise fall through the cracks. Our Ugandan team members are passionate advocates who accompany families to hospitals and ensure every child receives the support they need. Our resident physician and CEO are based in the United States, providing medical oversight and organizational leadership.
To protect the safety and privacy of the children in our care, we limit the personal details we share publicly. But our commitment to transparency is unwavering — we welcome your questions and are happy to share how your donations are put to work.
